No ban on Russian oil and gas imports - Hungarian PM
March 11, 2022
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has ruled out banning Russian oil and gas ahead of the second day of informal discussions that are being held by European Council members in Versailles, France.
He reiterated this stance in Facebook post saying, “There will be no sanctions covering oil and gas" and Hungary’s energy supply is insured.
Last week, Orban had supported EU sanctions against Russia in light of its invasion of Ukraine, but also termed these to be a "double edged sword" that would hurt the European economies as well, Reuters reports.
