Spanish marine fuel supplier Cepsa supplied an unspecified amount of B24 biofuel blend to a cruise ship operated by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) in the Spanish Port of Barcelona in July.

The B24 blend comprised 24% used cooking oil (UCO)-based biofuel and 76% conventional marine fuels, according to Cepsa.
The cruise ship, Norwegian Escape, received its first stem in July. Cepsa also supplied the B24 blend to two other cruise ships, the Seven Seas Voyager and Oceania Riviera, both operated by NCL.
Cepsa stated that it will continue to supply biofuel stems to NCL-operated cruise ships "throughout the current cruise season in the European Union." However, NCL or Cepsa have not specified the exact number of vessels that will receive bio-bunkers during the season.
This is Cepsa's first "direct supply" to the cruise industry from Barcelona port, the company said.
“Further supplies have been confirmed for the coming months, with biofuels regularly available at the ports of Barcelona and Algeciras,” Cepsa added.
