The vessel, MS Skulebas, will be ready for hydrogen propulsion next year, Norwegian Hydrogen said.
Battery supplier Corvus Energy will provide a hydrogen fuel cell system with an integrated battery pack for the vessel. Technology company Hexagon Purus will deliver hydrogen storage systems.
The green hydrogen will be produced at Norwegian Hydrogen's plant in Hellesylt, Norway using renewable energy.
“With this factory, green hydrogen is now made available to maritime customers and other industries in the region who want to lead the way in the green transition,” Norwegian Hydrogen said.
