The agreement involves producing 200,000 mt/yr of green ammonia in India, using renewable energy, and then shipping it to Japan's Kyushu region. The companies have not specified the construction timeline for the project.

NYK will handle the marine transport and develop ammonia supply chains within Kyushu and other parts of Japan.

In June, Kyushu Electric, Sojitz, and Sembcorp agreed to supply the green ammonia from this project to various industrial customers in Japan, mainly in the Kyushu region. However, the companies have not disclosed if any portion of the green ammonia produced will be earmarked for the maritime sector.
