In midstream operations, cargo containers are loaded and unloaded from container ships at sea.

Hunter Group and DNV will develop a 40,000-70,000 cbm-capacity liquefied carbon dioxide (CO2) carrier and 20,000-30,000 cbm-capacity feeder vessels.

Feeder vessels are medium-sized container ships. A feeder carries cargo between smaller ports and larger vessels, or from a smaller port to a larger one in the region.

The partners will assess “technological and operational measures” along with hull and cargo tank designs. They will also explore alternative fuels like ammonia and methanol, as well as fuel cells and CO2 reduction technologies.
