About 2,800 mt of LNG was delivered to Maran Tanker’s VLCC Maran Dione in a ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering operation.
Maran Tanker is an oil tanker shipping division of the Greek shipping company Angelicoussis Group.
The bunkering was handled by Pavilion Energy, a Singapore-based supplier.
Pavilion Energy noted that LNG bunkering was its first overseas venture. The operation underlined its LNG bunkering capability and readiness to provide similar services to other global ports through its partner networks, said Pavilion Energy’s group chief executive, Alan Heng
“More significantly, the success of this operation potentially opens doors for more bulk carriers and product tankers to conduct LNG bunkering operations at the anchorage in Chinese ports,” he added.
CNOOC said the delivery was its first to an LNG-powered VLCC anchored in Chinese waters.
