The latest order, an LNG dual-fuel and ammonia-ready vessel, expands the shipping company's newbuilding programme to nine vessels, with the new 8,600-CEU PCTC scheduled for delivery in 2029.

The latest order comes a few weeks after Sallaum Lines signed a separate newbuilding agreement with Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry for two 8,600 CEU PCTCs, with options for two additional vessels.

The new order at China Merchants Shipyards represents a total order value of more than $850 million, the company said.

The programme includes four vessels that have been delivered, one scheduled for delivery next month, one due for delivery in December 2026, and three scheduled for delivery in 2029.
