Last week, Carnival signed a multi-year LNG bunker supply contract with Texas-based LNG supplier Stabilis Solutions for its LNG-fuelled cruise ship, Carnival Jubilee. It has now signed another LNG supply contract for the same vessel, this time with Seaside LNG.

Carnival has signed a supply agreement with Seaside LNG to secure LNG as bunker fuel for its LNG-powered cruise ship, Carnival Jubilee.

Carnival Jubilee will be bunkered with LNG at the Port of Galveston in December. A local supplier will deliver the stem, Tim Casey, Seaside LNG's chief executive confirmed.

Seaside LNG will relocate its bunker barge, Clean Jacksonville, from Jacksonville in Florida to Galveston for this operation. The barge will then continue to provide LNG bunkering along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Meanwhile, the company plans to deploy additional bunkering barges to serve the “Texas Gulf Coast market” in the future, Casey added.

“LNG delivers immediate greenhouse gas emission reductions and is the best available market-ready fuel to help cut ship greenhouse gas emissions now," Carnival’s senior vice president of maritime affairs Tom Strang said.

LNG can curb carbon dioxide emissions by about a quarter compared to conventional bunker fuels. However, its methane emissions can be 36 times more potent as a greenhouse gas (GHG) compared to carbon dioxide over a century, according to a World Bank study.
