Singapore records a massive spike in biofuel sales for the second consecutive month
Singapore’s bio-bunker sales touched nearly 4,500 mt/day in October, marking a substantial rise from around 3,700 mt/day in September, according to preliminary figures from the port authority.

Changes in Singapore alternative fuel sales between September and October:
- Bio-VLSFO sales up from 92,000 mt to 116,000 mt
- Bio-HSFO sales up from 17,000 mt to 22,000 mt
- Bio-ULSFO sales down from 2,000 to 1,000 mt
- LNG sales up from 37,000 mt to 51,000 mt
In October, Singapore's bio-blended bunker sales rose sharply by 26%, reaching nearly 139,000 mt and surpassing the previous record high of 111,000 mt in September.
Of the 139,000 mt sold, about 116,000 mt was VLSFO blended with a bio component, typically 24% in Singapore, while around 22,000 mt was HSFO blended with a bio component.
Total biofuel bunker sales for the first ten months of this year reached 654,000 mt, exceeding last year's full-year total.
LNG sales rose by 37% to approximately 51,000 mt, with October’s daily sales averaging around 1,600 mt—significantly higher than September’s average of about 1,200 mt/day.
No methanol sales have been recorded since May.
