Singapore’s bio-bunker and LNG sales hit record highs in 2025
Singapore sold approximately 3,700 mt/day of bio-bunkers in 2025, a significant increase from 2,400 mt/day in 2024, according to preliminary data from the port authority.

Changes in Singapore alternative fuel sales between 2024 and 2025:
- Bio-VLSFO sales up from 780,000 mt to 969,000 mt
- Bio-HSFO sales up from 89,000 mt to 374,000 mt
- Bio-LSMGO sales almost steady at 10,000 mt
- Bio-MGO sales down from 700 mt to nil
- Bio-ULSFO sales down from 2,700 mt to 700 mt
- B100 sales down from nil to 26,000 mt
- LNG sales up from 464,000 mt to 571,000 mt
- Methanol sales up from 1,600 mt to 3,000 mt
Singapore’s bio-blended bunker sales jumped 53% in 2025, climbing to a record 1.35 million mt from 883,000 mt in 2024.
Of the 2025 total, about 969,000 mt consisted of VLSFO blended with a bio component—typically 24% in Singapore—while 374,000 mt was HSFO blended with biofuel.
Bio-blended LSMGO accounted for 10,000 mt, and bio-ULSFO made up the remaining 700 mt. No bio-blended MGO sales were recorded during the year.
LNG bunker sales increased by 23% in 2025, with average daily volumes of around 1,600 mt, compared with about 1,300 mt/day in 2024.
Methanol bunker sales reached 3,000 mt in 2025, almost double the volume sold in 2024. In November, 3,012 mt of methanol was supplied from MT Kara to the container vessel Antonio Maersk, in an operation carried out by MPA in collaboration with Global Energy Trading and Stellar Shipmanagement Services. During the same month, MPA issued three methanol bunkering licences, each valid for five years from 1 January 2026.
No ammonia bunkering has been reported in 2025.
B100 (100% biofuel) sales appeared in the data for the first time in 2025, totalling around 26,000 mt.
