The vessel, Guillaume De Normandie, is slated to start operations in April 2025 along the Portsmouth-Caen route, between the UK and France. Chinese shipyard CMI Jinling (Weihai) constructed the vessel.

The dual-fuel vessel is long-term chartered to the French shipping firm Brittany Ferries.

The vessel can run on both LNG and conventional marine fuel. It also features a 12 MWh (megawatt hour) battery system, allowing it to operate solely on batteries when navigating in and out of port, and even handle docking and departure without relying on its main engine. The vessel's battery system is scalable, which means it could potentially run entirely on battery power in the future, according to Stena RoRo. It is also equipped with a shore power connection.

The RoRo vessel is the last of five such ships to join the Brittany Ferries’ fleet. The fourth vessel was delivered in October this year.
