The authority has decided to raise the normal transit dues imposed on crude oil tankers, petroleum product tankers, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers, liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, chemical tankers and other liquid bulk tankers, containerships, vehicles carriers, cruise ships and special floating units by 15%.
Transit dues on dry bulk vessels, general cargo vessels, Roll-On/Roll-Off (RO/RO) vessels and other vessels will increase by 5%.
The revised transit dues will come into effect from 15 January next year.
However, containerships heading to ports in the “Far East” directly from ports in “North-West Europe” will be exempted from the rate hike, SCA mentions.
