The 93,000-cbm LPG carrier, fitted with TGE Marine’s fuel gas system, can run on both liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or conventional marine fuel.

TGE Marine partnered with German automation technology company Flemming Automationstechnik to fill the Gas Neptune vessel with LPG during the gas trial, in a process known as gassing-up.

Gassing up with LPG is the process of filling tanks with LPG for use as fuel. In this process, the tank is cooled, pressurised with liquefied gas, and the fuel pumps are tested to ensure they are working properly.

The process included “the commissioning of the liquefaction system with three-stage compressors, and the pump testing with only minor hiccups,” said TGE.

Following the gas trial in South Korea, the vessel headed to the Suez Canal to begin its maiden voyage, added TGE Marine.
