Operations at the multipurpose container terminal in Cape Town and the bulk terminal in Port Elizabeth resumed on Wednesday, the TNPA said. Port operations have also resumed in the western Cape province of Saldanha.

Meanwhile, another container terminal in Cape Town is still experiencing high swells and strong wind gusts. Two vessels could not dock at the terminal yesterday, the TNPA said.

The region has been witnessing heavy swells and strong wind gusts of up to 50 knots since Monday. The French container shipping firm CMA CGM lost 44 containers to sea when its vessel hit rough weather off the South African coast on Tuesday.

Bunkering has remained unaffected in most South African ports, a trader told ENGINE.
