The company supplied B30 marine biofuel – a blend of 30% biofuel derived from used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME) and 70% MGO. The trials took place in January.
The first trial was conducted in the northern French port of Le Havre, wherein TotalEnergies supplied a 200 mt B30 stem to its own chartered tanker - Minerva Tych. For the second trial, TotalEnergies partnered with French ferry operator Corsica Ferries. The company supplied a 100 mt B30 stem to Corsica’s passenger ship Mega Express in the southern French port of Toulon. Both biofuel stems were delivered by trucks.
TotalEnergies claims it has executed the first biofuel bunkering operations in France. “We are proud to be first movers in marine biofuels in the Port of Le Havre and in the French Mediterranean,” TotalEnergies’ vice president Louise Tricoire said.
Earlier this year, the company supplied B24 (24% biofuel) stem to a Hapag-Lloyd’s container vessel in Singapore.
