Under the six-year authorisation, the companies will supply LNG to vessels via tanker at the Spanish ports of Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandia.
Separately, the APV has awarded a 25-year concession to Five Next Useoil and Uco Trading Spain for the construction and operation of a renewable fuels plant at the Port of Sagunto.
Backed by an investment of €20 million ($23.2 million), the facility will convert waste-based feedstocks, including used cooking oil and animal fats, into biofuels through a biomass conversion process.
However, the port authority has not revealed additional details about the project, including the plant’s production capacity or whether the biofuels produced will be supplied to the marine bunker market.
