The Brunsbüttel terminal is capable of importing up to 3 million mt of ammonia annually, Yara said.
The terminal will facilitate the import of low-carbon ammonia, which can be used in fertilizers and as a shipping fuel, Yara said. Additionally, it can be delivered directly from the terminal to its point of use, where it can be converted into low-emission hydrogen.
Brunsbüttel is located at the western entrance of the Kiel Canal, where it meets the Elbe River, near the North Sea.
Yara’s new terminal in Brunsbüttel will be key to advancing Germany's hydrogen strategy and supporting the country's energy transition, Yara claims.
