Wasaline doubles down on LBM with Gasum
Finnish shipping company Wasaline will extend its use of liquefied biomethane (LBM) on one of its vessels through 2027, with fuel supplied by Gasum.

Wasaline’s ferry Aurora Botnia makes daily crossings between the ports of Vaasa in Finland and Umeå in Sweden. Last August, the company agreed to run the vessel on LBM to support FuelEU Maritime compliance on Baltic Sea voyages.
The surplus compliance generated by using LBM on Aurora Botnia will be added to Gasum's FuelEU pooling arrangement and used to offset shortfalls across Stena Line's fleet.
The Swedish operator runs 40 vessels across 20 routes in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.
Gasum operates its own FuelEU pool and supplies LBM as the main compliance fuel.
LBM-powered vessels in the pool include Gasum’s two bunkering vessels, Coralius and Kairos, one vessel operated by Tallink, two ferries operated by Viking Line, two vessels operated by Wallenius SOL and two LNG carriers from Anthony Veder.
